Control it before it controls YOU!

We all know what anger and aggression is, and we’ve all felt it; whether just as an irritation or as fully-fledged rage.

Anger is a negative emotion which is a completely normal and sometimes healthy human emotion.  But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems – problems in your personal relationships, at work and in the overall quality of your life.

It can make you feel as though you are out of control, frustrated and at the mercy of an unpredictable powerful emotion.

Anger is a very intense emotion which has negative effects physiologically in your body; in your personal life with relationships and at work.  Because when you get angry, your blood pressure rises and your heart rate increases it can lead to strokes and heart attacks, and can even trigger cancer.

We are usually able to easily identify rage in other people when they lose their temper in simple acts of impatience like in traffic or a queue, or when we don’t get a response from colleagues or bosses, or when children play up.  Think of your response or behaviour in situations such as being irritated with not completing or achieving tasks, acting impatiently with others, being over critical and not seeing others point of view.  This is also anger.

As is often the case, behaviour that is causing you problems at home or at work, actually comes from pain and emotional injuries from the past. 

You can’t get rid of, or avoid, the things or the people that enrage you, nor can you change them, but you can take control of yourself through anger management.
